Brick pavers and hardscape.
Lanai and Pool Decks
A pool deck takes more than any other surface on the property. Sun, chlorine, standing water, and bare feet. It has to stay cool, stay level, and let water go where it belongs.
What the work involves
We pull the old surface, dig down to stable ground, and build a compacted base before a single paver goes down. Around a pool that base matters more than anywhere else, because the ground under a deck settles unevenly if it was never compacted properly. Edge restraint goes in along every open edge, and the joints get polymeric sand so the field locks together instead of drifting apart.
Cool underfoot
Travertine is the usual answer in Florida. It is a natural stone, it stays cooler than concrete in direct sun, and it has grip when it is wet. Porcelain is the other route: it absorbs almost nothing, so sunscreen, chlorine, and grease off an outdoor kitchen wipe off it. Concrete pavers give you the widest choice of pattern and color, and they take a sealer well.
Screened lanais
Inside a screen cage the work is the same, with one difference: we plan the layout around the posts and the track so the cuts land where they read straight, not where they happen to fall.
What the job includes
- Removal and haul-off of the old surface
- Excavation to stable ground
- Compacted base and bedding layer
- Drainage planned before the first paver
- Edge restraint on open edges
- Polymeric sand in the joints
- Travertine, porcelain, or concrete paver
Exactly what is and is not included goes in writing on your estimate.
How it goes
You will know what is happening at each stage
Three stages, and we tell you which one you are in.
On-site estimate
We come to you, measure, look at what is there now, and find out where the water goes. You get a written estimate that lists the material, the work, and what is not included.
Installation
Removal and haul-off, excavation to stable ground, a compacted base, then the bedding layer and the paver. Edge restraint on the open edges, polymeric sand in the joints, and the site cleaned down at the end.
Sealing and care
Cleaning, re-sanding the joints, and sealing when the surface is ready for it. This is the part that decides whether you are maintaining a deck in a few years or rebuilding one.
